  • Q: What is CallLog?
  • CallLog is an online service which makes viewing and managing your call data easy. CallLog helps organise and sort this data into a more helpful form - allowing you to break it down, generate reports and focus on the data that matters to you the most.
  • Q: Who can use CallLog?
  • You may use the CallLog service provided you have a capable handset and a CallLog account. Currently, CallLog supports Symbian Series 60 3rd edition handsets (such as the Nokia N-Series range) and Google Android handsets.
  • Q: Where can I get CallLog?
  • You can download CallLog from your mobile device by pointing your mobile browser to http://get.calllog.org. If you'd rather download the mobile installation to your desktop and install it on the handset later, you can do so here.
  • Q: What information does CallLog store?
  • The CallLog Data Exporter extracts and uploads data directly from your handset. This includes your call data, message data and any packet data events such as wireless and carrier network access. Typically CallLog will record your dialed calls, received calls, missed calls, received messages, sent messages and data events (wireless & packet data). CallLog can be configured to only export partial numbers so that full contact phone numbers are never stored by the CallLog server.
  • Q: How does CallLog acquire my call data?
  • CallLog acquires your call data when you run the data exporter from your mobile handset. The data exporter extracts your data and uploads it to the CallLog server. Once the data export has completed, you may log into your account and your data will be immediately available.
  • Q: How often should I run the data exporter?
  • The data exporter can be run as often as you wish. If there are data events on the handset that you wish to propagate to your CallLog account, you may run the data exporter to achieve this.

Also note that a handset has a limit for which events are stored. Most handsets will store events for 30 days and any older events will be erased from the handset - making them inaccessible to the data exporter. The storage period is often configurable and may be less on your handset. Please check the storage period and adjust the frequency of your data exports to reflect this and avoid any lost data.
  • Q: What if I accidentally export the same data twice?
  • Don't worry. CallLog only accepts data that it hasn't already stored. If you export the same data twice - it will simply ignore any data that it already had.
  • Q: Can I control which events are exported from my handset?
  • All event data will be exported and stored in the your CallLog account when you perform a data export. However, you can remove specific individual events or groups of events if you wish to.
  • Q: How much does a data export cost?
  • CallLog does not charge for data exports. However, depending on your data plan, your network operator may charge you for the internet access required to upload your data to your CallLog account. Please check with your network operator for internet access charges. Your data can be uploaded via WIFI if your mobile handset supports it - avoiding any potential internet access charges by your provider.
  • Q: I'm having trouble installing the data exporter on my phone.
  • Your handset must be configured to install unsigned software.

    For Symbian:
From your settings menu, select Applications, then App. manager and set Software installation to All.

    For Android:
From your settings menu, select Applications and check Unknown sources.

Failing this, you can contact us with the relevant details of the handset for further help.
  • Q: What's the difference betwen a full and a partial export?
  • A full export will store your data using full phone numbers. A partial export will store the same data but use only the first portion of the number. The reason both types of export exist are so people who have privacy restrictions can still use CallLog. When you partially export your data, no numbers will be stored in full on the CallLog server. The data will still be meaningful to you however, as the contact names will accompany the partial numbers.
